The programme runs for a total of three weeks. In week one there are three days of training, followed by a two-week work experience placement.
During the first week you’ll participate in a three-day Your Work pre-employment course, held during school hours.
Run by our experienced trainers, the course involves group work and individual sessions, where you are free to contribute as much as you feel comfortable. All training materials are provided. Course includes:
Confidence building - increasing motivation and identifying your skills
Confidence at home - helping you to balance your work and home life
The world of work - what employers are looking for
Information about tax credits and childcare options
Useful contacts - details of organisations that can offer help and advice
Support and advice on other Horizons services
Ongoing support - access to support before, during and after your placement from Gingerbread, including a telephone helpline
Action plan - when you finish you’ll have created your own action plan, which reflects what you want to do and how you plan to do it.You will be linked to a work experience placement or voluntary opportunity with a local employer. It’s a real confidence booster and gives you the opportunity to find out if returning to work is really right for you.
Your Work courses are run in areas local to Barclaycard sites so that some of the placements can be provided by Barclaycard.
