One Parent Families|Gingerbread and Barclaycard Horizons have been helping lone parents get back to work for the last two years. The following are real stories from people who have attended the Your Work programme and how it has affected their lives.

Salima found out about the Horizons Your Work programme by chance but the opportunity came just at the right time.
‘The hardest thing about being a single parent is that everything falls to you: not just looking after the house and bills but also the emotional support that you have to give to your children, and it is difficult with all of this to find ways back into the workplace.
Before Horizons I was applying for courses and jobs but each time you needed to have experience. On the work experience section of the programme they had speakers from different organisations discussing getting back to work and having talked to them I got work experience after the course. Now that I have found work at the Credit Union through Horizons, I have experience in finance, banking, administration and working on reception. In the future I want to get a full time job in banking.’
