Citizens Advice Bureau have been providing helpful support and advice for nearly 70 years. Now in partnership with Barclaycard Horizons, the Your Money programme is helping one parent families all over the country to make a positive difference to their lives. The following are real stories from people we have helped.

Dionne lives in a local authority rented house. At present the only source of income is benefits, so money is always in short supply. During the Horizons programme it became apparent that Dionne had a bank account but relied on catalogues and doorstep lenders for any credit. The courses made her aware of shopping habits, ways to save money, budgeting, banking etc.
As a result, Dionne has opened an account with her local Credit Union. She now budgets her money and makes it last, sometimes even saving a little. Dionne said the Credit Union was much better for her because they call at the centre and they were not so frightening as the bank.
When the courses finished she said she had ‘Really enjoyed meeting different people and hearing the ways they had of shopping and cooking.’
